ENJOY THE ANDES BY BIKE
In the heart of the Callejón de Huaylas there is a huge potential to develop mountain
biking and, in turn, many present tourist attractions. Ideal mix to enjoy a circuit of
mtb that will make you live an unforgettable adventure. The Llaca circuit is a program
designed so that you can get to know a little of the Andean peasant culture and also
observe the imposing mountains that give life to the agricultural development of these
communities. The beautiful lake of Llaca is an impressive and majestic place and at the
same time, descriptive, of the deglaciation processes that afflict the glaciers in the
world. In this circuit it is also possible to visit archaeological sites of great
importance within the pre-Columbian architectural structure and also learn a little more
about its ancient inhabitants.
The Llaca circuit involves social, environmental, cultural and historical values in a
different and entertaining activity by mountain bike, which will make you enjoy the
mountains with a different perspective. At the end of the trip you will have an
enriching experience of what the Andes offer.

Day 01: Huaraz - Llaca ravine - Huaraz
Before we depart on our bike trip, your mountain bike guide will meet you in the
hotel to give you the safety and route debriefing. We begin the ascent to Llupa via
a mixed path of asphalt and dirt roads, after several kilometers arriving at loose
gravel roads. The altitude increases gradually towards the Llaca Canyon where we
will enjoy views of the snow covered mountains,Ocshapalca and Ranrapalca.
From there, the grade of the ascent increases slightly and we get higher in altitude
rapidly. Finally, in the valley we can begin to make out the Refugio Llaca, where
they train the mountains guides of the AGMP (Asociación de Guías de Montaña del
Perú) and Lake Llaca. We will enjoy lunch in this beautiful landscape before we
descend via the same canyon towards the ruins of the Wilcahuain Mausoleum, belonging
to the original Precolumbian settlers of the Huaylas Pass. We will stop to visit the
site and then continue our descent back to Huaraz.
Before the experience, it’s important to know your aptitude to undertake an activity
such as this. We are able to adjust the activity to your level so that you enjoy all
that the Andes have to offer. The Llaca routel is demanding and offers a day of long
ascent and long distances.
We will depart from Huaraz at 7am and return at 5pm.

curves, altitudes higher than 4000 meters above sea level. This route has 1000 m of
